Lea Faka-Tonga Co-ordinator

We are seeking a teacher to co-ordinate the existing Christchurch-wide Lea Faka-Tonga programme to begin at the start of Term 2, 2020.  The position is part time (0.2FTTE, one day per week) and is fixed until 1 November 2020.

The role will involve administration of the courses and 1.5 hours teaching, teaching to occur outside normal school hours.

Guidance Counsellor (part time)

We are looking for a part- time Guidance Counsellor to provide pastoral care and support to students and staff. The role is fixed term for two days per week (0.4 FTTE) commencing 28 April. The position is fixed until the end of Term 2 while the incumbent is on sick leave.

Strength and experience in working with boys/males preferred. Teaching qualification an advantage but not essential.

Head of Careers

We are looking for a dynamic person to head our Careers Department, from the beginning of Term 2, 28 April (or later by negotiation).

The Head of Careers will work alongside students, staff and whanau to ensure that students are prepared for life after school. 

We are looking for a leader with empathy for adolescents who has an up to date understanding of education and careers and who has a future focussed mindset. The successful candidate may (or may not) be a registered teacher but must be prepared to work with students and will have strong administrative and communications skills.

Homestay Co-ordinator

We are looking for a confident and organised person with excellent inter-personal skills to join the international department at Christchurch Boys' High School as a part time Homestay Coordinator.  The role is for 20 hours per week to start as soon as possible.

In this role you will be required to:

  • Source and monitor suitable homes for international students and assist in their placement
  • Interview both students and families regarding placements
  • Keep detailed records of placements, homestay checks and interviews
  • Build positive relationships with all stakeholders and communicate problems
  • Work effectively in a team environment

The successful candidate will:

  • Have excellent inter-personal skills
  • An interest in culture
  • A good understanding of Office software
  • A positive and hardworking attitude
  • Current drivers licence / Own Car
