CBHS Boys selected for the Junior Crusaders
During the October school holidays, CBHS 1st XV players attended a Crusader Junior camp in Christchurch, alongside 53 others from the Canterbury and Tasman regions. The camp, lasting three days, focused on training, nutrition, and teamwork. From this group, 36 were selected to play against the Hurricanes U18s at Upper Hutt’s NZ Innovation & Sport Centre.
CBHS was represented by Ethan Webber, Ollie Singleton, Cam Jones, Victory Issako, and Will Haig. Webber impressed with powerful running and strong defence, while Jones showcased his speed from the wing. Singleton excelled at fullback, consistently breaking through the defence, setting up key plays. Haig and Issako shined in the second half, with Haig distributing and kicking accurately, and Issako breaking tackles and gaining valuable ground.
The game ended in a thrilling 41-41 draw, with a late conversion tying the match. The event was well-supported by family and capped off a successful season for CBHS, following the selection of James Moore, Finn McLeod, and Josh Findlay to the NZ Schools team.
