Waterpolo Fast 5 Tournament
CBHS hosted the inaugural Fast 5 Tournament on February 10th/11th, 15 teams entered from around Christchurch, as well as 2 from Marlborough. The games were short and fast with 60 games completed over the 2 days. CBHS entered 4 teams with all of our players showing great development over the 2 day competition. Our gold and white teams were made up with some of our younger players who worked hard, the blue and black teams were the Senior A team and with every game saw improvements. Both teams progressed to the semi-finals coming up against St Bede’s in those two matches.
The black team beat St Bede’s to progress through to the final, the blue team narrowly losing by one goal. In the playoff for 3rd /4th CBHS blue beat St Bede’s. In the final our black team, after being down for most of the game, finished strongly and scored with 30 seconds left to take the lead. They hung on to win the title.

In the girls grade the final came down to Marlborough vs Villa Maria. On the day Marlborough were too strong running out the winners A hugely successful two days water polo to kickstart the season. The local competition starts next week with CBHS fielding 5 teams. The Senior A and B will both play in A grade this year, the first time that this has happened. Best of luck to all teams for the season.
